It was a linux mail server for people on outlook but I was testing from my laptop and it was not working. If I had tested on Outlook it would have worked. Kept tweaking config and looking at logs and nothing made sense until several googles later found out that it was my Mail app that was fake not the Linux IMAP server install I had done.
The outlook users worked fine after that. Just pointed it out so that if anyone does any Linux IMAP servers and the mac people complain its not working for them then just add TLSv1 to the allowed protocol stack and all will be fine. I have not upgraded yet to macOS Sierra so cannot comment on if that version of mail.app is better, but TLSv1.1 came out in 2006, TLSv1.2 came out in 2008. It is shocking that over a decade on, Apple is still only supporting TLSv1 which came out in 1999! Kiggs On Fri, Nov 4, 2016 at 8:59 AM, Stephen S.
