Hi Ed, You ask 'Not good enough, as in not as well composed to pass off as Bach or not stylistically close enough.' I would have though both (or do I mean neither?). Ponce never strikes me as being a particularly good composer (I've played some of his other stuff, too, and find him rather bland), and the piece in question could IMHO never be mistaken for Bach stylistically. But it is nice to play.
Got my lute back from the maker after three whole long weeks, by the way. It needed some adjustments, having been built specially for my fairly useless hands, but I've spent the last hour doing some nimble finger exercises (and using 'thumb-out, I'm sorry to add), and it's great to have it back again.
