I don't know if it's original but I know that the lute class of Sigrun Richter in Frankfurt performed a piece by Cage recently (actually it was Sigrun herself playing the piece) - maybe someone else knows more details. I would need to find th eprogram in my mess just to tell you th ename of the piece but I remember it worked fine and natural on a lute.
