Dear Herbert and All:
I don't understand the point of No. 1, to keep the fingerboard back. It
seems as though many players keep the fingerboard too far back as it is,
making life more difficult for the right hand.
Yours,
Jim

I guess most of us know that Robert Schumann permanently injured his hand
with a mechanical contrivance (he had a mental illness during parts of his
life).
However, such tricks, with common sense, need not be injurious, and I
wonder whether anyone has any.
Stuff I've found useful (especially #2):
put a music stand close in from of your LH to make you
keep the fingerboard back
tape (or rubber band) a ruler (or rolled-up magazine) across the
back of the wrist to make
you keep your wrist straight (either wrist)
detune one string of a course so you can easily hear that
both strings are equally plucked
