There is an old idea of getting recordings from older times: When there was a big party, let us say for ex. a wedding in the Medici court in Firenze, there was lot of music and fresh new oil paintings in the halls. In a fresh oil painting there are also solid particles of material in the paint, perhaps grains of sand and such. The gravity of earth is taking these patricles down all the time, initially faster, then slower and slower. When music was played nearby these fresh paintings, the canvas was of course vibrating. And those particles moving downwards made a track according to those vibrations. Perhaps some day these tracks can be decoded, and we can listen to the original recorcings by Francesco da Milano, Dowland, Kapsberer, Weiss, ... Who knows? :-))
