Matanya got a good chance to explain his case. Unfortunately, he entered
in his own online journal his desire to have a bit of fun with the lute
list, and he just kept repeating himself like a mad parrot. I fully
support Wayne's decision: harassment in any form is harassment.
Sometimes to save the barrel you need to get rid of the bad apple. There
have been several instances of personal threats in Ophee's messages, and
plenty of evidence of bullying tactics. Democracy is not the absence of
rules, on the contrary it assumes the rule of respect for others. Ophee
broke that rule knowingly and there should be consequences for that.
Mind you, he can still rave and rant on the guitar forum, something he
does on a daily basis, and if people like to hear his comment they can
go there. This is the lute list however, and Ophee had nothing to say
about the lute in this discussion, as he admitted himself.
There is no censorship involved in Wayne's decision. Just common sense.
