Hear, hear. As I said in a previous posting: forget about your top four courses, but think about the guitar sound you overspun basses are making! Gut basses are long lasting (more economical than overspun basses), stable and will make a world of difference in sound. And if you don't like fatty all-gut, you can use loaded gut or Dan Larson's very civilised gimped strings. Now with silver, as opposed to the not so historical tungsten he was experimenting with lately.
