Really depends on bridge and nut, so it's a question of trial and error, I'm affraid. First one so that it's almost, but not quite, buzzing. Then work your way up. I try to keep the same diameter as long as it's ok, and then move on to a smaller one. Taking the measurements of the old ones, obviously, keeps life simple.
