According to what I read somewhere, Fuenllana was a bass singer, indeed, and the red ciphers mark the bass line. But I doubt the latter. Playing thumb-out and taking the red ciphers as thumb notes makes much more sense to me. (The single dots do not mark the forefinger, btw).
