Dear All, This sequence is included in Julian Bream's 'My life in music' DVD. As I remember it he recounts that the meeting was arranged by a TV company, and he accepted the offer because of his wish to meet Stravinsky. He felt rather uncomfortable about the situation because it took place shortly before Stravinsky was to conduct a performance of one of his works. When you know that you can see that he's trying to make the best of a difficult situation.
The DVD makes it clear that Bream had previously hoped that Stravinsky might have written him a piece for the guitar, but in the event this was the only time that they met. The DVD as a whole is a thoroughly enjoyable watch and I recommend it very highly. It includes numerous fine performances on guitar and a few on the lute (including two Julian Breams playing 'Lord Willoughby's welcome home!) In recounting his life story Bream comes across as a very warm and fascinating character, and without question a superb musician. The footage of his early lute playing days is extremely interesting and would give younger players a new perspective on the origins of modern lute playing. Sounds like Orson Welles. To get on or off this list see list information at http://www.cs.dartmouth.edu/~wbc/lute-admin/index.html
