Not a lot here, but for recorders check out Jean Allison Olsen. She has
quite an extensive collection of music and instruments available for
perusal in person (my wife plays ensemble music with her and is a happy
customer, too). See http://www.honeysucklemusic.com/

There is the Podium in Dinkytown; see http://www.thepodium.com/ (which
used to be owned by local lutenist Paul Berget). They *may* have some
early stuff, but it is not guaranteed. I have seen a lute or 2-over the
years. Other than that, I think we are yet another backwater of Early
Musicke (on the odd occasion, http://www.homesteadpickinparlor.com/ may
also have a lute in stock). Also, you *may* be able to find some rare
plucked instruments at Claire Givens (this is according to Dan Larson).
See http://www.givensviolins.com/

If you go to Duluth, there is of course Daniel Larson's shop...

BTW, Minneapolis is in the east central part of the state; unless you
are talking to Ed Martin (even though Duluth is not that far North from
here; and definitely, Duluth is not in that wild a region -- you would
have to go about 2 hours North of there, and even then, the wild part of
the state is slowly becoming too developed).

Good Luck!
