Is the Pickeringe lute book (Booke!) a compilation in different hands, eg would it be supposed that it was used by a tutor as well as herself, and/or others? Does it look like it was used for long, and would one safely assume that '1616' was when the book was started? Is there a generic accepted title for pieces without one?
