My first renaissance lute was from Budget Instruments, London. It came with a curved plywood case. Following a friend's advise, I plastered the case with all kinds of batches so as to make it look used and old. My heart would beat fastly (ya know these 18 yrs old) but I got away with it. That was in 1983, but I guess it would still work.
