Dear All: Anthony Rooley's article in the revised edition of "A Performer's Guide to Renaissance Music" (Indiana University Press, 2007) is, I think, a fine example of a lute player thinking beyond the bounds of his instrument. His discussion of the dynamics of early music ensembles and preparation of vocal performance struck me as very illuminating. So for those interested in his current thinking on performance, give this a look. Cheers, Jim
