Hi, I already used it as a nut for a bano and a guitar. Also as inlay material for rosettes. I find it a bit softer than bone and produce a more mellow tone when used for a nut.

While I know that bone and ivory was often used, does anyone know if antler was ever used in luthiery for lutes, guitars, citterns, or other instruments (from any century)? I recently acquired some (probably deer) antler and am looking for inspiration for its use, aside from using it to make pens... Thanks in advance, Andrew To get on or off this list see list information at http://www.cs.dartmouth.edu/~wbc/lute-admin/index.html
