Dear Roman,

well, a jauch baroque lute would indeed be the most complicated instrument to use with that programm... However, using more than one diapason length for the initial calculation would make it more confusing for everyone without a jauch baroque lute or english theorbo, so i guess there is no optimal solution to this. When you adjusted all the settings to reflect your instrument you can send the calculation to your email-address and import it back to the programm anytime later without having to adjust everything again.

Thanks Benjamin!
Your machine is a bit confusing because it provides only for one diapason setting at a time.

Dear Roman,

perhaps my online string calculator is of some help there:
Just select pitch, length of the strings and diapasons and your instrument
and it will calculate an entire set.
You can adjust tension and length of each string to match your instrument.

You can find it at: http://calc.lauten.com/en/strcal_en.htm
FAQ and manual are at: http://www.resoldo-milare.de/calc.htm

For 97cm, 415Hz, octaves, carbonfiber it suggests:
B 0,629 (2,9 kg)
A 0,707 (2,9 kg)

87.5cm, all 2,9 kg
E: 0,523
D: 0,587
C: 0,659

BTW: Feedback and suggestions for improvements of the calculator are very
welcome.

Hope that helps,

Benjamin Stehr

Dear collective wisdom,
What carbonfiber guages would be appropriate in your opinion for octaves A
and B at 97cm, and C, D and E at 87.5cm?

Thanks in advance,
RT
