Gut strings are a bit more temparamental but you will find that
playing them is a revelation.
With gut stringing it is really possible to "grab a lute boldly into
the mouth" as Besard wants us to do.
There is far less jarring and you will find that you quite naturally
will play the bass notes with more determination.
Which is what you need to bring out the best possible sound from the
base strings.
You will find that your lute goes out of tune more often but tuning
gut strings is far easier.
