I sometimes get squeaking with gut strings too. I have found that 
rubbing a capsule of vitamin E into the fingertips, rinsing with warm 
water and drying the hands leaves a very thin film on the fingers 
which you don't notice, but which eliminates the squeaking. It also 
seems to be good for keeping the finger tips soft.
