Dear Rob, dear all, sometimes a broken string hinted at the vanity of all things, too (the portrait of Ochsenkhun in his tablature book comes to my mind). And doesn't the women hold the instrument the wrong way round, so that she must reach around the bass strings? Strange couple, indeed!
