Hi all,

I honestly think there is a market for a simply vihuela that
prospective lute students could buy in order to make a start. As a
lute/guitar teacher myself, I have had many classical guitar students
interested in the lute, but then shy away when they hear the price tag.

Now, my brother is a violinist/violin maker, who also happens to have
made period classical guitars, and some renaissance and baroque
guitars. And I have made several renaissance and baroque guitars
myself, so I am very familiar with the process of making an instrument.

My brother is quiet adamant that he can make a decent student type
vihuela, that could be used by a student interested playing
renaissance lute repertoire for around $1000 dollars Australian. That
equates to approximately $870 US (give or take a bit).

These instruments are not too bad. In fact, I have performed on
several of his renaissance and baroque guitars.

If anyone would like to see some pictures of a renaissance guitar or
listen to a recording, please message me.

Cheers,
Andrew
