Thanks, Stewart, Bernd, Karl, et al.

Alas, it appears that Picard has them no more, at least not easily
accessible via internet. The link takes me directly to Abebooks.com,
and though they list several of Daniel Heartz' works (including a
biography of Pierre Attaignant), the lute edition is nowhere to be
   found.

Granted, I didn't try hard yet to get to Picard directly.

I know that book, though. LIke many in my generation of lutenists, it
was a valuable resource in learning. I still regularly play pieces
   from it.

Still looking for the songs, though, if anyone has them. I've got a
copy of the London Pro Musica Edition of 6 of them (LPM10a), plus a
transcription of "Tant que vivray" which I got from I can't remember
where. My wife and I enjoy them, and I thought it would be nice to get
   the rest...

   Best, and keep playing,

   Chris.

   Dear Chris,
Not quite the answer you were looking for, but you can still buy the
   old
Heartz edition quite cheaply from Picard in Paris. I wrote to the Lute
List about it on 21st October 2003 and 27th March 2006. Below is a copy
   of my email from 2003.
   Best wishes,
   Stewart McCoy.

   Dear Arthur,
This book was mentioned in June and July 2002 on the French lute
list. Roger Traversac informed the list that there were over 200
mint condition copies of Heartz's edition of Attaingnant's lute
music still in stock in a shop in Paris. I bought myself a copy
straight away, and I imagine they'll still have plenty left. Here is
the relevant part of Roger's e-mail:

It is an excellent edition of some very playable music, and is well
worth having on the shelves at home.
   Best wishes,

Does anyone know of an online source for Pierre Attaignant, Tres

      Thanks,
