Dear lutenists,

what did Charles Mouton do in Scotland? In the Balcarres ms. there is a
piece called "My Mistress is Prettie, by monsieur Mouton", which is a
version of the famous, and in Mouton's time also very old, "La Mantovana".
I played a (modest) version to the tube
  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WyARyxT1N0A
and also to Vimeo, but Vimeo seems to be dead just now...

The arr. doesn't sound and feel like Mouton at all!? Was it perhaps
"commercially" useful to call a piece "made by" the famous lute hero?

Anyone knowing the history of any connections between Mouton and Scotland?

Arto
