Gut doesn't need stretching, it's up to tension within minutes. But as
the chantarelle is prone to breaking, I keep a spare 0.40mm in the
pocket of every concert jacket I have.

One more air travel tip: sheet music in hand luggage. I can play in a
borrowed suit, but without my music ...
Strings in the normal suitcase, as they can be taken out of your hand
luggage (what do they think we're up to with strings on an airplane:
strangle the pilot or have a gut-bondage session with the stewardess?)
