Thank you for your insightful article on the lute and Zen. Having a very set routine for my daily practice of the lute, I have questioned ( myself ) if such a routine is always a positive thing. I'm thinking of the instance when someone might visit and ask to hear me play something - before I've been through my routine. Would I feel unprepared and decline? Of course, the obvious response seems: don't become attached to your routine.
