I was aware of Kirsch's work (ref below) which as you say contains
incipits tho' few concordances but don't have a personal copy to hand -
hence my plea! My usual University Library is the fine Brotherton
collection at Leeds but, alas, they don't have Kirsch's work.

I'm also aware of Mayer's excellent work but find the index not
always the most useful tool since I can't obtain a direct listing of
40032 as such (as far as I can see) but, as you say, can scroll through
the alphabetic entries for ALL Ms to identify pieces linked to a
particular source ...... I was rather hoping there might be a dedicated
listing of the Ms to save me this chore. Oddly, the works 'in
progress' do list contents by individual Ms. Am I missing something?

Perhaps I can add a bit to this discussion. On Wayne Cripps's Lute
Page I have posted a number of "Finding Tools," which can be useful
in
answering questions such as Martyn's. The manuscript Mus Ms 40032
formerly in the Prussian State Library in Berlin is one of those
lute
tablatures which were thought to have been destroyed in World War II
(soldiers were seen burning books to keep warm near the castle where
they had been stored for safekeeping when bombs began falling on
Berlin). They turned up about 15 years ago in Krakow,* and Mus Ms
40032, perhaps intended for vihuela, is in many ways one of the most
fascinating of the Jagiellonska tablatures. Many of us look forward
to
the edition mentioned by Miles Dempster now under preparation by
Dinko
Fabris and John Griffiths.

G. Crona suggested one item from my lists, the catalogue of lute
manuscripts at the Jagiellonska library, "1992: Dieter Kirsch." It
contains a title list with tablature incipits of all the works in
Mus
Ms 40032, as well as a few concordances.
A better place to look especially for concordances would be volume
III/2 of "1991-9: Christian Meyer" on the "Finding Tools." According
to
the World Catalogue** 74 libraries have the Meyer's Sources (for
Martyn, including the British Library and the university libraries
at
Cambridge, Oxford and Glasgow).
The indexes to Christian Meyer's inventories are on line (I give the
link [3][3]http://www.bnu.fr/Smt/sommaire.htm), and include
extensive,
updated lists of concordances for each piece. One can use the
indexes
to satisfy Martyn's wish for on-line information. Go to the on-line
Sommaire, and the list of indexes about half way down the page.
Select
"titres", click on each letter of the alphabet, and use 40032 as
search
term. "A" will give you 4 "hits," and "B" 6, most with several
