Hello Nancy:
   I'm glad you like the courante, which is a favorite.  Besard did not
   seem to be interested in notating ornaments - one imagines he was too
   busy being a physician, lawyer and collector/publisher of too much
   music.  English ms. sources from this period (circa 1615-20) seem to
   have more in the way of written-out ornaments but the manuscripts were
   mostly teaching tools, weren't they?  I suppose ornaments from the M.L.
   book apply, since they reflect what was au courante.  The sparsely
   notated ornaments found in Vallet's books would certainly apply.
