Yes, you are right, the clothes worn may also be considered as part of the strap system (as mentioned already by Martyn). A shiny material can look elegant, but may need to be avoided. Material similar to rug/carpet backing include (a) non-skid shelf liner (at Walmart next to the shelf paper), and (b) non-skid drawer liner (at hardware supply outlet, to keep tools from sliding around in drawers).
