Thank you Arto.

Did you see the reply I had from Saverez? It appears that over 0.95mm
the strings have a flouro carbon(?) or whatever core which is overlaid
with a thinner sheath/coating/winding(?) of the same material. I
presume this is done to increase flexibility (and elasticity?) of these
   thicker strings.

Saverez used to make nylon strings overwound with nylon called NP (not
v good); I suppose these thicker sheathed/coated KF strings superseded
the old NP. Have you used them?

But isn't it odd that they, an established string maker, are unable to
provide a conversion table or factor? So thank you for your work.

   Martyn

   Dear Martyn and others,
years ago I measured the density of KFN's and KFG's. I went to a
pharmacy and asked them to measure the weight of a piece of such
strings. Then I calculated the density of the material, knowing the
diameter, length and weight - using the "sub-calculator" of my 1st
   version string calculator:
      [1]http://www.cs.helsinki.fi/u/wikla/mus/Calcs/wwwscalc.html#P1
I got the density 1791 Kg/m3, which is clearly more that gut (about
   1300
   Kg/m3).
In my calculators I call these strings "carbon".
I do not know, if Savarez has changed their material since, but to me
this density parameter has worked well...
   Best,
   Arto
