Yes, I doubt this will be satisfactory for our standards, but if a singer asks 
a rather baroque theorbo player to do a renaissance lute player's job, knowing 
full well that he does not play the instrument, then we can safely assume that 
some concessions can be made. This I suppose is not quite unlike asking a 
pianist to play a harpsichord!
