That looks like wrong program association. RAR is a very common packing format. You could install the trial version of WinRAR (never ending trial ;-) or a free packer, I like "7-zip". 7-zip will ask you during installation which file types to associate it with ...

    Hi Bernd,

I have followed the instructions and downloaded the .rar file to my
computer. I find that it refuses to open. The default program
associated with the .rar extension is Internet Explorer and an IE
window appears briefly on the screen then disappears again - no error
    message or anything like that.

Is this just my PC or has anybody else had difficulty with this?

Sorry, this file upoad site of France Telecom is reliable but a
    little
      bit confusing.
(And the important things are in the smallest writing..)
Have a look at this example:
      [1]www.lute-academy.be/docstore/freedl.jpg
You find (1) the name of the file, (2) its size (Mo = MB) , you copy
the word in " .." from here (3) to the empty field (4), then press
    (5).
      Good luck!
