I can already hear the outrage. :)
But seriously. The singer is doing the exact same thing as the flutist,
the latter maybe a little blurry at the edges, but it's Raga, these
blurs are what emerges as "Seconda Prattica" in European Music.
Note how the flute steers at least for a bit towards the important note,
then a consonant one. Near the ending you can hear the flute play
something like a chord in slow arpeggio.
As for the harmonization: Raga Kamod enables these chords in a quite
intriguing way.
This has been marked many times as the beginning of "Baroque". Maybe
it's now clearer why.
