Thanks all, for your hints, comments, and helpful suggestions. Yesterday it took me a few hours (thanks mostly to inadequate or non-existent beginner-level documentation from the development team), but I've got OCRFeeder installed, running, and figured out (in a very kludgy manual work-around way).
