Quoting Andrew McGlashan ([email protected]): > The more recnent history of jitsi isn't promising, so it might not > even be worth considering these days. Ownership by Atlassian and > beyond.
_Former_ ownership by Atlassian (2015-03-04 to 2018-10). In 2018, relevant trademarks and copyrights (to the code) were bought out by 8x8, Inc., a California VoIP provider, which has continued to develop the Jitsi Meet codebase as Apache Licence 2.0 open source code. Personally, I have no special reason to hate 8x8, Inc., and all development has been transparent and highly forkable by the community, so even if they turn out to be operated by James Moriarty, the Napoleon of Crime, I'm not sure what the relevance would be. I mean, they're not even Oracle Corporation. ;-> -- Cheers, Grammarian's bar joke #22: The past, present, Rick Moen and future walked into a bar. It was tense. [email protected] McQ!
