I would try installing the package lxde-common, if you haven't.  The icons you 
are missing should be under /usr/share/icons/nuoveXT2/.

In the tarball, the data directory contains the .menu and .directory files that 
populate the toplevel.
You could look through there for clues about what is needed if something 
continues to be missing.
