It's not the right time to wait for all translations. Some distros are now migrating to shared-mime-info 0.70, such as Ubuntu 9.10. This move totally breaks the original pcmanfm and make the whole LXDE unusable. So, an IMMEDIATE fix is needed; otherwise many people will get a broken desktop. (This already happened somewhere) I'll be glad to release 0.5.3 after translations get updated but now we need an immediate fix without delay to prevent broken desktops.
Besides, I also think that the right time to update the translations is after we merge the desktop improvement done in the desktop branch. There were some great improvement and there might be some minor changes in UI. It'll be better to call for translation after the changes get merged back to trunk for the next major release. The desktop branch is currently under testing. It's not yet merged because there still exists some bugs. Later this should become next release of pcmanfm. On the other way, the focus of the development is currently on libfm and we hope that we can make it before the end of Q1, 2010. Cheers!
