Well, in my mind, the idea was to replace lxpanel by lxpanelx, rename it
lxpanel, merge back eventually the few bits missing, and continue the

I'm agree that posting it to the bugtracker doesn't mean it's applied
shortly, but it's better than nothing. Sometimes, distributions take
patches from the bugtracker to include them directly.
Even if there are no official maintainer, it can be maintained by the
community. There are some activities recently on lxpanel, and I can
spend some time to merge patches from different sources, but I need to
know where are they :)

I don't think the rewrite will be ready soon. IMO, the more efficient
way is to merge actual work in one place.
