Your idea is interesting. I think if you know how to do it, and if you take the 
Windows
way as model, then you have the basic method the end users will understand. In 
fact I
find it rather interesting and I would be interested to see that implemented as 
a
possible option, or as a feature, or a plugin : any. I also bring Linux 
desktops to
newbies/end users sometimes, and I hope I will even do it more and more often 
as time
goes.

Well most of the users I know would probably stop watching after a pair of 
seconds and say
"too complicated! Not for me."
