hi all,

I'd like to open a discussion about my observations of lxqt status. i
use all-in-one repo hoping all us updated there.

Good news:

 - finally, I'm able to run the environment ;) testing it for one week
(razor seems replaced for me now)

 - all components (except session and desktop) seems stable and
functional at least as in razor

 - the desktop (pcmanfm-qt) component does not seem but definitely is
much better and faster than razor's one!
    - it allows to run 3rd party "widgets" like conky pretty integrated
as well
    - the startup feeling is much better = startup time

Bad news:
 - there are still some glitches here and there, everywhere (empty tab
in pcmanfm-qt desktop config, many instances of
/usr/lib/menu-cache/menu-cached binary, ...)

 - the session. I'm afraid we cannot release anything before "The Great
Session Polishment". Yes, the session works internally. I'd say it works
great for end user but it has real flaws in:

    - configuration:

        - the dialog (lxsession-edit) looks so gtk-ish ;)

        - I cannot edit ENV variables (example:
https://github.com/Razor-qt/razor-qt/wiki/OpenSSH-Askpass-Setup )

        - I cannot edit which lxqt components should be started or
disabled (again - comparing to razor-session)

    - it goes with some apps predefined, unfortunately applications
which I've never know I have installed (IBus - does anybody ever show
its GUI to non-programmer?)

    - lxsession-* binaries - it's almost impossible to find info what it
does. Example:

pvanek@stimpy:~/oss/lxqt/lxde-qt/pcmanfm-qt> lxsession-default-terminal -h
Launching terminal manager
pvanek@stimpy:~/oss/lxqt/lxde-qt/pcmanfm-qt> man lxsession-default-terminal
No manual entry for lxsession-default-terminal

  - project infrastructure.
        - At least bugtracker. It's almost impossible to track all
github sub-trackers.
        - maybe it's time to stop using both mailing lists (lxde and
razor) and start to use only one to reduce message load

but anyway - I'm happy with it again.
cheers,
p.
