We used to do something similar all over KDE's various code based, e.g. 
"Copyright (c) Kxyz team"

At some point we got legal advice that this is not a very good idea unless the 
Kxyz team is infact a legal entity. Unfortunately I don't remember any 
details.

As a data point from my KDE checkout: I found ~65 occurences of copyright 
statements which either user "contributors", "developers" or "team" in roughly 
19k header and source files, most of them around 10 years old.
