thank you for you input. Isn't 14.04 going to be deprecated in just a year
as 16.04 kicks in? any reason why not to go with that since it's around the
corner as far as I know (like this coming April).

also part of the reason why I wanted to go with 16.04 is fcitx, folks here
heavily need alternate input and ibus on 14.04 gave me a lot of troubles
and so did trying to switch to fcitx.
