I'm using LyX-1.0.3pre2.

Again, LyX recently eeems "too intelligent" to easily convince it to
re-run LaTeX. I have a huge preamble, which I modify using vi and
simply include. I have other included files. Making changes to these,
I used to be able to hit a spacebar on the LyX window (followed by update
dvi or upgrade postscript) and convince it to re-run LaTeX. Now, LyX
insists on an actual change to the text within it's purview.

If that's the approach the the more recent LyX versions, we need a new
function that bypasses this "intelligence" and reruns LaTeX. Otherwise
I'm stuck having to make bogus changes, which introduce errors.
