I can also confirm this.
I tried statically linking libforms.a but I keep getting undefined
references to _IO_stderr_ I'm not sure if this is related to the
problem or not (error in get_shared_cmap and a few others flcolor.c)
(OBTW that's with 0.88.9 the 0.89pre)
I've attached the latest backtrace complete with a few "info locals" on
the glibc-2.1.1 debug. This is the same backtrace irrespective of xforms
version.
