I forwarded your msg to the LyX Development mailing list.
I am sure we you use some more specifics about f.ex. what our equation
editor is missing. And where and when LyX is crashing.

I like your new web page - it looks very clean and professional;
good work guys! Lyx is certainly my program of choice, though I must
say that in some respects it still needs to catch up to SW, which has
a better equation editor.
However, whoever did the disaster recovery (and Lyx DOES crash), did
a brilliant job. I have never lost data (apart from a keystroke) with
Lyx. By comparison, MSWord still appears to have the dreaded 'too
many files open or not enough disk space'.
This error message is well known to every secretary in our Department,
and it is notorious; in that the true meaning is something like 'you
have lost all the work you did this morning, due to undocumented bugs
in this wonderful MS program'.
It is a relief to use Lyx, knowing that if something bad happens, at
worst I will just have to restart from the recovery file. However, to
be fair, there are still lots of bugs which can cause minor problems
when you try to use Lyx.
On balance, I have to say that it is not yet practical to use Lyx
without knowing Tex. This is especially true when interchanging files
with non-Lyx users in Latex format, a procedure which always involves
editing the output Tex files.
Well, enough criticism - mainly I should express my gratitude for the
nice job you have done so far, and my hope that you will keep up the
good work. I really appreciate the responsive and helpful bug-report
system that you have in place.
