Hmm...

\varepsilon is in the X-font, and the decision was

- Do not display \varepsilon at all
- Map epsilon on the varepsilon X-font


I think 

- Do not display \epsilon at all
- Diplayt \varepsilon correctly

would be the more natural decision.
