One of my personal wishlists for LyX is a better intuitive view of nesting
structure. I seem to frequently work in highly nested documents, and it's
not always immediately clear exactly what the 'change environment depth'
command is doing.
I had some idea in the back of my head where the nesting would be shown as
tidy little bars in the left margin. In ugly ascii art, something like
this maybe
+ My structured Document

| + 1 Introduction
| |
| | Blah blah blah. In particular, the following:

| | + 1) Something
| | | 2) Something else
| | + 3) ....
| +

| + 2 The main bit.

You get the idea.

Have a look at the screenshots. That's the kind of thing I was thinking
of.
Conglomerate looks like an interesting project, in fact.
