I have a better idea:
In the Insert->Figure popup, there should be 4 options for inserting an EPS
file (instead of two) which should be named inline, here(?), float and wide
float. The first two are the current options.
The 3rd(4th) option will automatically insert a figure float (wide figure).
Add a similar option the Insert->Table popup.
