Then I don't think using a branch is the right way. One reason is that I assume Uwe wouldn't be doing modifications to other parts of the code, so it wouldn't be what I consider a branch. Another reason is that I think it makes it more difficult for other developers to collaborate. If nothing else because you'd have to do so much 'updating' that you risk missing to incorporate stuff from the trunk. Actually, that risk alone makes the branch option really bad in my opinon. You don't want to send out a bundled LyX installer that installs something and then isn't based on the source code we think.

Putting it in a separate project/tree/whatever might make sense, but not in a branch.
