Jean-Marc & Bennett,

If you want it tested on MacPPC just let me know when it is committed and any compilation instructions, and I will try it out.

I have a patch in my tree that allows to type 'make install' in
development/MacOSX in order to install all the skeleton stuff where it
belongs.

The reasons are the following

1/ it allows the horribly long paths that force us to use a weird tar
version

2/ in the (near) future, this will allow to move this stuff in some
special packaging/macos directory and have it handled by the normal
make install/dist process.

Bennett, do you think it is a good idea? Unfortunately, since the tree
contains binary stuff, I cannot produce a patch, so the best way to
proceed is probably to commit first and then see whether we can make
it work :)

Do you think it is a good idea? Do you (or another mac user) have time
to try it out?

JMarc
