No, Windows doesn't allow status.C and status.c in the same directory.
But it allow to rename status.C to status.c without any problem.
FWIW, I have had some weird, spurious, problems with TortoiseSVN when
renaming/moving files/folders. Only had to do a fresh checkout once or
twice though - although sometimes rebooting windows helped. Maybe some
old program was using the file and/or the folder.!
I never had to do a fresh checkout during the _whole_ renaming saga.
