If somebody could show me the "right" way to generate a link to a thread

but it's pretty easy to copy-paste the subject and date so it's got to

I don't know if this will work for you, but I read posts to this list
through gmane and a news reader (pine). All I have to do is look at the
hidden headers that come with the post. Here's the last few lines of the
headers.

So why not have a look at the hidden headers? (Caveat: Don't know if this
will work when reading the posts as email).
